| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 05.08.09 Der Dalai Lama in Lausanne / Prilly  Vortrag über Tibetische Medizin / Dr. Nida http://www.dalailama-lausanne2009.ch/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- at the teachings of H.H DL Doctor Nida Chenagtsang LECTURE: INTRODUCTION TO THE TRADITIONAL TIBETAN MEDICINE Wednesday August 5, from 16:30 to 18:00 Doctor Nida Chenagtsang was born in the Amdo region of Tibet. In 1996 he obtained his diploma at the Tibetan Medical University in Lhasa and has since been setting up this traditional practice through the International Ngak-Mang Institute. He conducts his research and teaching in Asia as well as in the West. Doctor Chenagtsang will introduce us to traditional Tibetan medicine, which has its roots in a science and a “savoir faire” dating back to ancient times. Although generally practised alongside Buddhist philosophy, this medicine has its own unique features of philosophy, cosmology and system of subtle anatomy using its own spiritual practices. Traditional Tibetan medicine reflects a holistic vision of the world, taking into account the individual’s (as a whole – body and mind) relationships with his environment. Doctor Chenagtsang will also comment on the particularities of this medicine in its methods of diagnosis and cure (based on herbal pharmacopoeia), knowledge of anatomy, physiology, embryology and pathology. All such topics offer us knowledge into this medicine which is little-known in the Western world.
